Liposuction is a procedure in Singapore that surgically removes stubborn fat deposits in localized areas through small puncture holes, resulting in a better contour and a slimmer appearance. It should not be regarded as a weight loss technique, but rather to augment weight loss in addition to a healthy diet and a good exercise regime.

There are various forms of liposuction, such as Power-assisted Liposuction, Ultrasound-assisted Liposuction (VASER), Waterjet Liposuction and Laser-assisted Liposuction. These all serve to help remove fat quickly and safely.

The aim of liposuction is not to remove as much fat as possible, but rather to create pleasing contours that result in a most aesthetically-pleasing body shape. This is different depending on the patient’s needs and gender. Furthermore, harvested fat can be processed and the purified fat grafted in various areas to enhance the desired contours.

Liposuction can be done in the following areas of the body, after the infiltration of a tumescent fluid that serves to hydro-dissect, relieve pain and well as minimise bleeding:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Calves
  • Face and neck

Liposuction Technique

At Allure Plastic Surgery Singapore, our Plastic Surgeon Dr. Samuel Ho employs a S.A.F.E. liposuction technique, which was first developed by renowned American Plastic Surgeon, Dr Simeon Wall Jr. This technique allows for very low risk liposuction to be performed even in repeat cases, where other techniques would encounter many difficulties.

Recovery

After the liposuction procedure is performed, the patient is required to wear a compression garment for 4 to 6 weeks. This allows for skin contraction, thus resulting in the best possible aesthetic outcome. The small ports that are used for liposuction are sutured, and the sutures are removed 1 week after the procedure. Some bruising is to be expected after the liposuction procedure and these will resolve after a week to 10 days.
