Double Eyelid Surgery/Epicanthoplasty is a procedure used to increase the width of the eyes giving the appearance of bigger and more attractive eyes. The inner edge of the eyelids, also known as the Mongolian fold, is a prominent feature for Asians. As the Mongolian fold extends across the eyes, it often covers the medial Canthus and can make the eyes look smaller and awkward looking. Eye makeup and eyelid tape will sometimes be used as a way to create a temporary eyelid crease for patients who dislike single eyelids. However, a more permanent method to create double eyelids in Singapore will often involve incisional methods, surgical procedures and plastic surgery techniques performed by a plastic surgeon. Suture methods (stitch methods), blepharoplasty surgery or upper eyelid surgery that affects the eyelid skin should only be carried out by board certified plastic surgeons.

Double Eyelid Surgery

Medial Epicanthoplasty

In the case of a prominent fold at the inner edge of the eyelids (Mongoloid fold), Dr Samuel uses a modified Uchida technique to perform corrective surgery.

Medial Epicanthoplasty

This technique eliminates the Mongolian folds neatly without the need for prominent scars. The results are larger, more attractive and natural-looking eyes.

Lateral Epicanthoplasty

Lateral Epicanthoplasty

The outer aspect of the eye may be “droopy”, rounded or narrow. In order to correct this, a simple Y-V incision on the inner aspect of the eyelid is performed and the corner of the eye attached firmly to underlying periosteum. This allows for a wider, more attractive eye with an improved slant.

About the Procedure

The direct brow lift is a surgical procedure used to create a more refreshed, youthful appearance in the upper third of the face. Removing excess sagging skin around the forehead and repositioning underlying muscle and tissue creates the effect. This leads to a sizable correction of a heavy or sagging brow and restores a more youthful contour to the upper third of the face. Like the traditional midbrow lift, the incisions are made directly on the forehead for precise manipulation of muscle and skin. The price for a direct brow lift ranges from $3700-$4000

The procedure begins with marking the face as to where the incisions will be made and numbing the area with lidocaine anesthetic. This is followed by a 3-5 minute facial massage to help distribute the numbing solution. The skin is then cut, preferable in a crease right above the brow for better scar concealment. This allows for selective skin excision in the area. Dissection with scissors is then carried down until the fibers of the

frontalis, or forehead, muscle are found. The regions under the superficial marks made on the skin are then excised. To prevent scarring, layer-by-layer reconstruction of the wound is advised. For the deeper layers, sutures are incorporated to bring the skin edges together without any gapping and to close the skin.

Brow lifts, through various techniques, rejuvenate the face above the eyes by removing excess sagging skin, and repositioning underlying muscles and tissues. Brow lifts can "lift" sagging brows, eliminate deep furrows and smooth the forehead area skin.
