A fat transfer is a natural-looking and lasting way of replacing loss volume. It can be done on different areas such as the face, around the eyes, the forehead, to soften nasolabial lines, the chin and also to the breast. Unlike fillers, fat grafts have no risk of rejection.
Fat grafts last from 3 to 5 years. It is a safe and repeatable procedure.
Fat is harvested from the tummy or thighs through pin-hole incisions and carefully processed using a strict protocol for grafting to the facial regions that require volume replacement, such as the cheeks, lips, forehead or temporal areas. This may be done in conjunction with a liposuction procedure or alone.
Fat is harvested from the tummy or thighs through pin-hole incisions and carefully processed for grafting to the eyelid region. This may be done in conjunction with a liposuction procedure or alone.
The processed fat is then meticulously placed using micro-needle incisions to areas of the eye that require it to correct a sunken appearance, wrinkles, prominent tear trough or lid-cheek lines or dark eye circles. This can be done as a standalone procedure or in combination with a blepharoplasty in order to achieve a youthful appearance.
Fat-grafting to the breast may be performed in order to augment the size and symmetry of the breast. The fat is harvested from the patient’s tummy, thighs or buttocks, and may be done as part of a liposuction procedure or alone. The fat is then carefully processed using a well-established protocol and injected into the breasts. Staged procedures may be required to achieve the desired outcome. This is usually performed 3 months apart.
A fat transfer is carried out on an outpatient basis, meaning that there is no need for an overnight stay. Patients are given general anaesthesia and will be asleep throughout the procedure. Patients experience minor swelling and bruising which will diminish in time. There are usually no visible scars. Full recovery is expected in 1 to 2 months.
The procedure is performed by Dr Samuel Ho. Trained in Korea, Dr Ho has extensive experience in performing fat transfer work.
To start, Dr Samuel Ho will conduct a detailed consultation to evaluate your face and bone structure, facial / body anatomy and discuss with you the changes you desire.
Patients are welcome and encouraged to address any of their concerns or questions so that they can make a confident decision about undergoing fat transfer surgery.
Fat transfer or fat grafting is the process of surgically transferring fat from one area of the body to another. This helps to replace lost volume, and improve or augment where the fat is injected.
Minimally invasive liposuction is carried out, which is the harvesting of fat from the tummy or thighs through pinhole incisions. This is then carefully processed using a strict protocol for grafting to the targeted areas.
Dr Samuel Ho will conduct a detailed consultation to further understand your needs and concerns, and to explain the fat grafting procedure — this is dependent on the areas you would like fat grafted.
For example, if you intend to do a facial fat graft, Dr Ho will evaluate your face and bone structure to discuss the changes you desire, such as where to strategically inject the fat to accentuate parts of your face.
This is an outpatient procedure and you will be allowed to go home to rest. There are no visible scars and full recovery can be expected in a month.
Major swelling and bruising should subside between the first and second week and will continue to improve within the next one month.
